Our Story

The Temmink Family and the Algarve

Around 2002, the story began in the sun-drenched region of the Algarve. My parents, Hans and Ans Temmink, together with my uncles Wim and Arnold, discovered the relaxed Portuguese lifestyle. What started as a second home gradually became their permanent base. The family decided to settle in the Algarve and turn their passions into tangible projects. Hans and Ans focused on acquiring and managing holiday villas. Wim and Arnold built a strong reputation in design and architecture with Studio Arte. For me, Tom, the son of Hans and Ans, Portugalvillas began with something small: renting out one holiday home owned by my parents. What initially felt like a great opportunity to gain experience soon grew into a true passion. Driven by a strong sense of service and hospitality, I gradually expanded the rentals step by step. From one villa to several properties. That is how Portugalvillas was born, not as a purely commercial initiative, but as an extension of our family story and entrepreneurial spirit in the Algarve.

Holiday Homes with a Unique Character

Portugalvillas offers exclusively villas with their own distinct style and character. Each home stands out in terms of design, comfort, location, and overall experience. Many of the villas have been designed or renovated by Studio Arte, creating a refined and authentic atmosphere. Rather than a large, impersonal portfolio, we present a carefully curated collection of properties we fully stand behind. Because we rent out not only third-party villas but also our own properties, we understand exactly what matters for a carefree holiday. We know the perspective of both the owner and the guest.

Why Portugalvillas?

To this day, I remain closely involved in every booking. I know the villas, the owners, and often the guests as well. My strength lies in personal contact and honest advice. I take the time to understand what someone is looking for and help them find the villa that truly fits their needs. But my role does not end with renting out a property. I know the Algarve inside out. I’m always happy to share holiday tips, from my favorite restaurants and beautiful beaches to golf courses, local markets, and activities. I also assist with arranging additional services that add something extra to your stay, from private chefs and boat trips to in-villa massages or a fully stocked fridge upon arrival. Personal service and quality always come first. Portugalvillas is therefore more than a rental company. It is a family story that began with a love for the Algarve and has grown into a business where hospitality is at the heart of everything we do. And that personal character will always remain the core of what we stand for.
