About Quinta da Lila | A breathtaking estate surrounded by serene mountain ranges

Quinta da Lila is a charming estate nestled in the green hills of the Serra de Monchique, in the heart of the Algarve. Surrounded by the region’s stunning natural beauty, this peaceful retreat offers the perfect escape for those seeking tranquility, authenticity, and comfort. The estate combines historical charm with modern amenities, creating a sustainable and eco-friendly haven in one of southern Portugal’s most serene mountain areas. Covering 3.3 hectares, Quinta da Lila features a series of stone-walled terraces, mostly cultivated as a vineyard. In addition, the estate is home to olive, lemon, orange, and mandarin trees, as well as the rare local apple variety known as “Pera de Monchique.” Beyond the landscaped terraces, the terrain opens up into a rugged landscape of cork oaks and strawberry trees, which are traditionally used to produce the famous local spirit “medronho.”

A distinctive feature of the estate is its three historic irrigation tanks, carefully converted into swimming pools while preserving their original character. Two of the pools are equipped with UVC filters, significantly reducing the need for chemicals, and the third is fed by a natural spring that provides fresh mountain water year-round. The presence of these natural springs and streams enhances the peaceful atmosphere and highlights the estate’s deep connection with nature.

The Yellow House is the largest accommodation on the property, offering space for up to six guests. It consists of a main building with the master bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen, and two separate annexes — Suite 2 and Suite 3 — each with its own shower and toilet. This layout provides both shared living areas and private space, making it ideal for couples, friends, or families with older children.

The Granite House, located at the top of the estate, is a distinctive retreat for two to four guests. Built from rough stone, it combines rustic charm with modern comfort, offering a warm and intimate atmosphere with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It is the perfect choice for those seeking peace and style in a natural setting.

The Baker’s Cottage is the smallest of the three houses but offers a truly unique experience. Set in the heart of the vineyard, it overlooks Picota, the second-highest peak in the Algarve. With its private terraces and a natural swimming pool fed year-round by fresh mountain water, it is an idyllic setting for a romantic getaway or a peaceful escape for two.

The estate offers flexible combinations for groups of different sizes. For two to eight guests, The Yellow House and The Baker’s Cottage make an excellent pairing. For two to ten guests, The Yellow House and The Granite House are available. For larger groups of up to twelve guests, the entire estate can be rented, including The Yellow House, The Granite House, and The Baker’s Cottage. Due to the characteristics of the terrain, Quinta da Lila is not recommended for families with children under twelve years old.

Rental conditions

Terms and Conditions
The rental price includes the use of water, electricity, WiFi, final cleaning (unless agreed otherwise) and pool and garden maintenance. The rental price excludes wood for the fireplace.

Security Deposit
The security deposit must be paid before arrival, along with the second payment of 70%. You are requested to pay a deposit of €1,500. This will be refunded at the end of your stay, provided no damage has occurred. In case of damage, part or all of the deposit may be withheld, and any additional costs for damage will be charged.

Payment
Upon booking, you will receive the rental contract, confirmation, and directions. The reservation is only final once a 30% deposit of the rental amount has been paid. The remaining balance, including the security deposit, must be paid 8 weeks before your arrival in Portugal.

Cancellation
In the event of a cancellation by the renter(s), the following cancellation fees will apply:
a. Cancellations made up to 6 weeks before the first day of the booked stay: 30% of the rental price.
b. Cancellations made less than 6 weeks before the first day of the booked stay: the full invoice amount.

Arrival and Departure
You can check in to the accommodation after 4:00 PM and must vacate the accommodation by 10:00 AM; this is to allow for cleaning.

Liability
Portugalvillas / the landlord(s) accept no liability for any accidents or other incidents during your stay in Portugal, in and around the accommodation, regardless of the cause.

Others
We advise you to take out proper travel and cancellation insurance.
